Everywhere Gardens

Transforming Lawns. Growing Community. Cultivating Independence

We believe that every lawn is a potential garden, and everyone has something to contribute. Everywhere Gardens, a project of the Madison Mutual Aid Network (hyperlinked), is building a decentralized farming network—one yard at a time.

Our Mission

We transform lawn space into garden space. Guided by the principles of mutual aid, we foster neighborhood community, homegrown food independence, and soil health while creating vital habitats for pollinators and native plant species. We are building a cooperative model to produce organic foods and medicines that sustain our communities.

Our Vision: A Cooperative Farming Network

We aren’t just planting gardens; we are planting a new model for local resilience. In the long term, Everywhere Gardens aspires to build a cooperative model for decentralized farming.

We envision a network where small plots of land—once dominated by turf grass—become nodes in a larger system of organic food and medicine growth. We are creating an ecosystem of community meals, swaps, workshops and organizational partnerships to share our harvest with the community. Together, we are building the infrastructure for a self-sustaining, community-owned food system.

The Impact

By joining Everywhere Gardens, you are contributing to:

  • Food Independence: Reducing reliance on industrial food systems.

  • Healthy Soil & Pollinators: Replacing monoculture lawns with biodiverse habitats.

  • Mutual Aid: Strengthening neighborhood bonds through shared work and shared food.

Ready to Grow?

The transformation of our city starts with a single shovel in the soil. Whether you have a yard, a desire to garden, or a willingness to learn, we have a place for you.
